Velma Mae Hunter, 67, of Star City, passed away on May 31, 2015 at her home.
She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who lived her life making a joyful and loving home for her family, where she always went about her daily work singing. She lived her life as a godly example before her family and friends, and was known for her love for her Savior. In her last days showed unwavering faith and trust in her Lord.
She was born on August 17, 1947 at Dumas and was the daughter of the late Clyde and Bertha Hawkins Luker.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Melissa Michelle Hunter and three sisters, Kay James, Faye Henley, and Frances Roberts.
She is survived by her husband, Charles Hunter; daughter, Angela Hunter; son, Jeffery Hunter and wife Windy of Star City and daughter, Jessica Blaze and husband Bobby of Elizabeth, Louisiana; four grandchildren, Daniel Reeves, Nathan Hunter, Hayley Hunter and Trenton Hunter, all of Star City; three sisters, Carolyn Vanzandt of Fort Smith, Emy Conner of Star City, Cindy Day of Centerville; three brothers, Clifford Luker of Mt. Ida, Kenneth Luker and Danny Luker, both of Star City.
Graveside services will be held on June 3 at 2 p.m. at Church at Star City Cemetery with Bro. Michael Fuqua officiating. Visitation will be held on June 2 from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Griffin Funeral Service.
Pallbearers are Steve Moore, Pete Kiefhaber, Tom Whipple, Layne Baugh, Michael Fuqua, Jodie Snow, Joey Baugh and Jack Wildt.
