Verniece Harper McGehee

Verniece Harper McGehee, 93, of Star City passed away April 15, 2022 at Dalton’s Place in Star City.

She was born January 28, 1929 in Lincoln County to the late Felix and Mary Ophelia Hawkins Harper.

Mrs. McGehee was the retired owner of Verniece’s Beauty Shop in Pine Bluff and a member of the Pleasant Hill Missionary Baptist Church near Star City.

She was also preceded in death by her husband, Harvey M. McGehee, Jr.; two brothers, Harold Harper and Martin Harper; and three sisters, Mary Murphy, Dorothy Nowlin and Lucille Harper.

Survivors include three daughters, Linda Ross (J.T.) of Star City, Patricia Dillard (Daniel) of Benton and Debby Edney (David) of Smackover; two brothers, Robert Harper of Star City and James Lavone Harper (Morag) of Houston, Texas; a sister, Martha Louise Bailey (Bob) of Star City; four grandchildren, Jason Ross, Jarrett Ross, Shana Raymond, Steven Edney; eight great grandchildren, Max Ross, Garland Ross, Sydnee Ross, Evan Ross, Olivia Edney, Conan Howard, Haley Arzaga and Brandon Raymond; and two great great grandchildren, Mavis Ross and Henley Arzaga.

Visitation will be Monday, April 18, from 12:30 p.m. until 1:30 p.m. at Griffin Funeral Service in Star City. Graveside services will be Monday, at 2 p.m. at Holly Springs Cemetery near Star City. Bro. Elmer Byerly will officiate.

Pallbearers will be her grandsons and great grandsons. Honorary pallbearers will be her granddaughters and great granddaughters.
