The Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4515, in Monticello, is seeking donations to help fund its veteran and community service programs. The VFW helps veterans with with groceries and utilities, provides pajamas to veterans in the hospitals and nursing homes, visits the elderly veterans in assisted living facilities and nursing homes, teaches flag etiquette to students in Ashley, Drew and Chicot counties, works with Woodsmen of The World, the American Legion and Disabled Veterans of America to pour foundations and properly erect flag poles and dedicate the flag in surrounding counties, schools, community centers, and other facilities. Woodsmen of the World provides the materials and all four organizations while all four organizations volunteer their time and labor. The VFW is in need of monetary donations in order to continue its service to veterans and communities and is challenging area residents to donate to the organization, according to a VFW news release. “The members of the VFW Post 4515 have served to keep our country free and safe and are helping other veterans, families of veterans and our communities,” the news release reads. “Please meet this challenge by giving a little to those who have helped us so much.” Donations may be mailed to VFW, 148 Veterans Drive, Monticello, AR 71655.
