Votes cast for or against 15 proposed ordinances that will be on the November 8 General Election ballot in Monticello will not be counted or certified, Circuit Judge Don Glover ruled Monday morning.

A group of 13 Monticello business and community leaders filed a lawsuit last week to try to keep 15 proposed city ordinances off of the Monticello ballot or to prevent the tallying and certification of any votes on those measures.

The petitions failed to meet filing requirements. Specifically, the ballot title of each petition is insufficient and the substance of each petitions is contrary to the Arkansas Constitution and Arkansas law.
