W.C. “Dub” Mankin

W.C. “Dub” Mankin, 88, of Watson, passed away January 25, 2022, in Hot Springs.

He was born April 12, 1933 in Boles, Arkansas and was the son of the late Riss and Rhoda Jones Mankin.

He was preceded in death by his parents; loving wife of 60 years, Audrey Dean Mankin; and son Darrel Ray “Bear” Mankin.

Mr. Mankin was owner and operator of Mankin Farms, owner and pilot at Mankin Flying Service, and a member of Elk Lodge.

Dub was a hard worker who lived for horse racing season and seeing if he got that lucky ticket. If he was not down on the farm in Desha County, he could be found in Hot Springs sporting a snazzy button up and a cowboy hat. His annual coon supper or birthday fish fry were big events for the city of Hot Springs, stopping traffic and filling up the hotels with his friends from all around. In his younger years, you could find him flying his many planes, whether it was for travel or for the farm. There was nothing he loved more than showing off and bragging on his many grandchildren and great-grand children. He will be forever missed by many friends and family, and Hot Springs will never be the same.

Survivors are two sons, Hollis Mankin and wife Sharon of Watson and Joe Mankin and wife Deb of Watson; daughter, Teresa Scott and husband Todd of Watson; brother, George Mankin of Clinton; two sisters, Lavada Johnson of Hot Springs and Sarah Moreland of Watson; six grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.

Graveside services will be held Sunday, January 30, at 1 p.m. at Watson Cemetery in Watson.

Arrangements by Griffin Funeral Home of Dumas.
