Wanda Joyce Rice Burr, 66, died on March 31, 2014 at her home in the Butler community near Star City.

She was a member of Pleasant Hill Missionary Baptist Church. She and her husband were owner/operators of J&W Trucking. She retired from Valley Services, Inc. where she was a kitchen supervisor. She was a member of the Star City High School Class of 1966.

Mrs. Burr was born at Star City on February 9, 1948 and was the daughter of the late Gene and Geneva Harper Rice.

She was also preceded in death by her husband, Havis N. Burr, Jr.; a nephew, Cameron Harrison and a sister-in-law, Marie Rice.

Survivors include a son, Nick (Shelley) Burr and a daughter, Kenna (Glenn) Graves, all of Star City; two grandsons, Dusty Graves and Jackson Burr, both of Star City; two granddaughters, Kami Graves of Star City and Courtney Burr of Warren; great-grandson, Aiden Gage Smith of Hilo; stepson, Donnie Burr of Star City; three step-grandchildren, Brannon Burr, Bethany Burr and Boz Burr, all of Star city; a step great-grandchild, London Carter; three brothers, Thomas Rice, Duke (Kathy) Rice and Eugene (Bennie) Rice, all of Star City; four sisters, Mary Ann (Doug) Patrick, Bobbie Lee and Willene Morris, all of Star City and Ellen Rice of Rockford, Ill; several nieces and nephews and her four-legged baby “Peanut.”

Funeral Services will be held April 3, at 2 p.m. at Griffin Funeral Chapel with Bros. John Marlar and Jackie Richardson officiating. Visitation will be held April 2, from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be at Butler/Pleasant Hill Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Glenn Patrick, Shawn Harvey, Brian Harrison, Brent Johnson, Johnny Graves and Scotty Rice. Honorary pallbearers will be Dusty Graves, Jackson Burr and Russell Smith.
