Warren’s proposed operating budget for 2012 is $65,000 less than last year’s operating budget of $2,475,000 but because the city managed to pay off some equipment and 6.5 acres it purchased to expand the city park and build a walking track, Warren Mayor Bryan Martin said there will be enough funds for a one percent raise for city employees.
Martin said he has sent his budget proposal to the Warren city council members but the 2012 budget has not yet been adopted.
In addition to the one percent salary increase for city employees, the proposed budget carries with it a $160,000 grant match to fund the city’s emergency services center renovation.
The city is renovating the offices for the police chief, fire chief, criminal investigators, patrol officers, and secretary, as well as the firemen’s kitchen and sleeping quarters.
The renovation plan also calls for the installation of new security doors and heating and air conditioning system, and a major overhaul and redesign of the dispatch room to make it more efficient and comfortable for the dispatchers.
