The GFWC  Warren Woman’s Club will conduct its annual Arbor Day Celebration Friday at 1:30 p.m. at the Woman’s Club’s park “Meditation Point” on West Cedar Street, across the street from the Warren City Park.

Meditation Point was established by the Warren Woman’s Club as their community improvement project during the 1996-1998 administration and was dedicated to the memory of Patsy Burrow, a member of the local organization. A memorial tree will be planted in the park on Arbor Day in honor of the late Noma Watkins, a long-time club member who was serving as club president at the time and was a driving force in establishing Meditation Point.

The local club will be joined by city and county officials, along with other groups and organizations, for the tree planting celebration. The Warren High School ROTC and Warren High School Girls Ensemble will participate.

Arbor Day is an annual observance that celebrates the important role trees play in our environment and to encourage planting and protecting trees. The special day is celebrated in all 50 states and many countries around the world.

The public is invited to join Warren Woman’s Club members in observing the national holiday and celebrating the role trees play in our lives. For additional information, call 870-226-5457.
