Jim Wells has announced his candidacy for Ashley County Judge. He is seeking the Republican nomination.
Wells, an Ashley County native and resident of the Promise Land community, says he will focus on creating new sources of revenue to provide opportunities for all current and future Ashley County residents, writing grants to source available state and federal funds to invest in small business, roads, education and educational partnerships, and waste management, according to a news release announcing his candidacy.
“Proper fundraising and strategic investment in these key areas will grow tax base providing funds for continued reinvestment,” Wells said.
Wells is married to Mary Jon Wells and is currently serving as president of the Hamburg School Board. He is a member of the Promise Land Missionary Baptist Church, member of the Hamburg and Crossett chambers of commerce, owner and operator of Jim’s Barbershop for 25 years and sales representative for Kimball Midwest since 2013.
“With everyone in Ashley County working together we can find strength in unity,” he said. “I am asking for your support and vote in the May 2022 election.”
