Wilburn G. Thornton, Jr., 85, of Warren, died on January 24, 2018 at Hospice Home Care in Little Rock.
He was born on August 4, 1932, in Warren and was the son of the late Wilburn Thornton, Sr., and Audra Beard Thornton.
Mr. Thornton was a retired Senior Master Sergeant in the U.S. Air Force, serving as in the Korean War and Vietnam War. He also retired from the Arkansas Employment Security Division and Warren Bank & Trust Co. He was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Thornton was preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn Gavin Thornton; a son, Tommy G. Thornton; two brothers, Dave Thornton and Paul Thornton; and a sister, Alice Rook.
Survivors are a son, Allan Thornton and spouse P.J. of Hot Springs Village; brothers, Jimmy Thornton and Bob Thornton of Warren; sisters, Betty Lou Broom and Mary Thornton both of Warren, and Ruth Thornton Thayer of Austin, Arkansas; grandchildren, Heather Sullins and husband Rodney of Bryant, and Brandon Thornton of Little Rock; great-grandchildren, Cooper and Carter Sullins.
A graveside service will be held on Saturday, January 27, at 1:30 p.m. at Union Cemetery in Rye by Frazer’s Funeral Home of Warren.
Visitation will be held on Friday, January 26 from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
