Wilfor Joe Myrick, 86, of Dumas, passed away on January 25, 2017 in Monticello.
He was born near Star City at Branchville on March 7, 1930 and was the son of the late, William Myrick and Mary Eleanor Carter Myrick.
Mr. Myrick married Ella M. Mitchell in Monticello on October 16, 1953. He was a member of Calvary Missionary Baptist Church where he taught Sunday school and served as music director. He was also member of American Legion and American Postal Union, and loved hunting and fishing with his family.
He served in the United States Army and retired in 1990 after 24 years with the U.S. Postal service.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers, William J. Myrick, Donald Ray Myrick, Loyd Myrick and Raymond Myrick.
Survivors are his wife, Ella Myrl “Myrt “ Myrick of Dumas; three sons, Tommy Joe Myrick (Cheryl) of Dumas, James Myrick of Dumas, and Mitch Myrick (Julie) of Huntsville, Arkansas; a daughter, Mandy Price (Kenny) of Dumas; two brothers, Herman Myrick (Pauline) of Star City and Dale Myrick of Maumelle; three sisters, Laverne Burnette of Monticello, Margaret Olson (Stan) of Spokane, Washington and Barbara Jacks of Greenbrier; seven grandchildren, Kenny Lynn Myrick, Casey Myrick (Shaunda), Kelly Morgan (Joe), Grant Myrick (Misty), Josh Price, Jilian Byrd (Jonathan) and Morgan (Ethan) Luther; and nine great-grandchildren, Anna Morgan, John Michael Morgan, Will Morgan, Blakelee Byrd, Jack Byrd, Lila Myrick, Emma Myrick, Evan Myrick and Ella Myrick.
Visitation and funeral service will be held on Saturday, January 28, both at Calvary Missionary Baptist Church. Visitation held from 1 p.m. until service time at 2 p.m. Rev. Julius Carter and Rev. Roy Landers will officiate. Burial will follow at Tyro Cemetery in Tyro.
