William A. “Billy” Hunter, 83, of Lake Village, died January 2, 2014, at Chicot Memorial Medical Center in Lake Village.
He was born August 17, 1930 at Yellow Bayou Plantation in Lake Village and was the son of the late Hugh O. Hunter and Martiel Bell Hunter
Mr. Hunter was a farmer and rancher, a U. S. Army Veteran of the Korean War and he attended the Dermott Methodist Church.
He was a Delta PCA board member since 1973, a Farm Bureau board member for over 40 years, and was a past board member of Montrose Academy. He also served on many other farming and agricultural boards and was also a 32 degree Mason.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Jerry Hunter; and a sister, Mary Nell Ford.
Survivors are his wife, Mary Mildred Hunter of Lake Village; two sons, Mark Hunter of Lake Village and Keith Hunter and wife, Tyra, of Lake Village; a sister, Margaret Allert of Austin, Texas; two granddaughters, Casey and Cameron Hunter and several nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be January 4 at 10 a.m. at Holy Innocents Cemetery with Rev. Bart Bynum officiating.
Arrangements are by Bishop Funeral Home of Lake Village. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Chicot Memorial Medical Center or Southeast Rehabilitation Hospital, both in Lake Village.
