The Wood Avenue Presbyterian Church (Associate Reformed Synod) in Monticello will host Holy Week services on April 16, 17, and 18 from 12:30 p.m. until 12:45 p.m.
The services will take place in the church’s historic sanctuary, located at the corner of West Wood and Church streets.
James Cathey, the church’s organist and choir director, will present a variety of organ music suitable for the times between Palm Sunday and Easter. His selections will include “God Will Take Care of You,” the beloved spiritual “Were You There,” “Midnight in the Garden,” and “An Easter Hymn of Praise.”
Cathey will also present “Angus Dei,” “Panis Angelicus,” and “The Holy City.”
The Wood Avenue congregation invites the community to join them for these brief periods of reflection on the jubilation of Palm Sunday, the contemplativeness of Maundy Thursday and Good Friday, and the exaltation of Easter.
The community will also have the opportunity to view the repairs to the bell tower, which were made possible through a grant from the Arkansas Historic Preservation program.
This concert is free and open to the public.
