The historic Wood Avenue Presbyterian Church in Monticello will host a special “arts in worship” service on November 4 at 11 a.m. when the the Chancel Choir will present a concert of sacred music, and the sermon will be based on II Samuel 6: 5, 14.
The choir’s selections will reflect both traditional and contemporary music. “The Shepherd Psalm,” a rendering of Psalm 23, celebrates the psalm-singing heritage of the Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church. The choir will also present arrangements of such traditional hymns as “It Is Well with My Soul,” and “What Wondrous Love Is This, O My Soul.” Recognizing the place of contemporary music in worship, the program also features “If I Had but a Moment,” “I Come to Him,” both by Sally DeFord, and the popular “God on the Mountain,” by Tracy Dartt.
James Cathey, organist and music director, and the Chancel Choir welcomes the public to the service for a time of worship and reflection.
The church is located at the corner of West Wood Avenue and Church Street in Monticello.
