Wynoma Day, 99, of Dumas, passed away on April 26, 2018.

She was born on November 29, 1918 in Idabel, Oklahoma and was the daughter of the late, Abern McCown and Josie Mays McCown,

For most of her life, Mrs. Day lived in Desha County where she was involved in many organizations including the Desha County Fair, Delta Memorial Hospital Auxiliary and the Jefferson Friends Club. She was a charter member of Chickasaw Baptist Church, a faithful member of Tillar Baptist Church where she was a long-standing Sunday school teacher, and was a member of her beloved First Baptist Church of Dumas. She loved to quilt, sew, cook, go bowling and play her Skip Bo cards.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Day was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Clarence William Day; four sons, Clarence William “Billy” Day, Jr., Lee Roy Day, Danny Clay Day, Sr., Charles Raymond Day, Sr.; a grandson, Carl Bradford Day, and great granddaughter, Rachel Day.

Survivors include three sons, David Day (Deborah) of Dumas, William Day (Judy) of Tillar, and Ricky Day (Tanya) of Dumas; and a daughter, Sue Wood (Billy) of Gulf Shores, Alabama. She was “Mammaw” to all but especially her 22 grandchildren, 35 great grandchildren and 14 great-great grandchildren.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, April 29, from 1 p.m. until 2:30 p.m., followed by funeral services at 2:30 p.m. with Rev. Dubs Byers officiating. Visitation and funeral services will be held at First Baptist Church. Burial will be at Tillar Cemetery in Tillar.

Mrs. Day’s grandsons, Chuck Day, David Day, Jr, Danny Day, Jr, Mark Day, Bill Day, Gregg Day, Ron Stewart, Scott Day, Walker Day and Trent Day, will serve as pallbearers.
