Youth Money Camp

The Southeast Arkansas Financial Education Center, Inc. (S.A.F.E.), a non-profit organization, will conduct money camps this summer for youth in McGehee, Monticello, and Lake Village. Pre-registration is required.

The first camp will be held at the McGehee Boys and Girls Club on June 25 and 26 from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m. The second camp will be held at the Southeast Arkansas Regional Library, Monticello Branch, on July 17 and 18 from 8:30 a.m. until noon. The last camp will be held at the Central Baptist Church in Lake Village on July 21 from 8:30 until noon.

The free two-day Youth Money Camp is offered to youth ages 13 to 18 years old. Participants learn how to spend, save and invest money wisely. Additional enrichment training includes entrepreneurship, tax education, college preparation, credit education, career and job readiness and more. Participants are provided a creative learning environment full of fun activities, free food, special awards and t-shirts. A scavenger hunt concludes the camps where they receive cash awards.

“This is our 3rd year for the Youth Money Camp” said Clarissa Pace, president of SAFE Center, Inc. “Our camps have been very successful since we started. We generally have 30 to 35 children participating. Parents will call and ask if we can take more or if we can have it in other locations. This year, we expanded to the other locations. We are excited to be supporting the McGehee Boys and Girls Club summer participants. These children are already in place. The other participating children will be required to register at their locations.”

The criteria for participation is the desire to learn how to create a better future for themselves and their families. Parents must register their children by Friday, June 15. Late registrants will not receive t-shirts. Monticello and Lake Village camps are open to all children regardless of their locations. The camp will be presented to members only of the McGehee Boys and Girls Club. Participants will be accepted on a first come, first serve basis due to limited space.

Registration should be submitted immediately to Clarissa Pace by calling 870-460-9192 or email [email protected] or register online. Pre-registration is required in order to attend.
