Zack Towers, the Star City High School football player who collapsed on the football field during a November 1, 2012 football game, has died.
Funeral services will be held Saturday at 1 p.m. at First Baptist Church in Star City. Visitation is Friday from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the church.
Towers, 19, passed away early Wednesday morning at Arkansas Children’s Hospital.
“I now have a guardian angel. Watch over me brother. I Love you more than words can ever say,” Towers’ brother Ty Towers tweeted early Wednesday morning.
Nothing captured and held the attention of Southeast Arkansas like Towers, but the support for Towers went beyond Arkansas. Supporters from all over the world — all 50 states and at least 15 other countries — rallied in support of the linebacker.
