Zack Towers, the Star City linebacker who has been hospitalized since he collapsed on the football field in the Bulldogs’ November 1 home game against the Crossett Eagles, continues to improve, according to Towers’ brother Ty Towers, a quarterback at Ouachita Baptist University.
Ty Towers tweeted on Twitter today that Zack had been temporarily taken off a respirator and was breathing on his own.
“Zack has been taken off of respirator,” Towers tweeted. “He will stay off a few hours then put back on. He’s breathing on his own. Praise God.”
Zack, a 17-year-old senior at Star City High School, remains in Arkansas Children’s Hospital in Little Rock where he is recovering from a head injury. His condition was recently upgraded from critical to serious.
